Go UK!!

Andrea, Brett, Cole, and Graham came over this Sunday to watch the game with us. We had a great time eating good food and watching the boys play. Of course UK won and will be advancing to the final four so that made the night even better.

It took Cole a little while to warm up to everything going on around him but soon the boys were playing together, stealing toys, and hugging. They are so cute together!!!

Baby # 2!!!!

Dave and I recently found out that we are expecting, and due in December!!!  We have always wanted more than one child and really wanted them close together.  We are so thrilled, nervous, and excited to welcome a new baby to our family.  Oddly enough Brody has become fascinated and very curious about "ba-bee"(s).

So far this pregnancy has been a breeze.  I hope to not jinx myself by writing that but it has been.  I felt a little nauseated at first but now I feel fine.  I am not tired, sick, or really anything.  I do get a hot flash every now and then but that really is all the complaining I can do.

We are obviously waiting to spread the word, but I know I am busting at the seams to tell everyone.

 UPDATE
**Unfortunatly we lost this baby at 7 weeks**

Snow Cream!

We had to do something to make the best of this everlasting winter so I decided to make Brody Snow Cream. My grandmother used to make this for my friends and I growing up and we loved it.

Despite Brody looking unsure in these pictures he LOVED it. His strange faces were a product of him getting irritated that I wasn't shoveling it in his mouth fast enough. I'll agree it was really good and secretly once Brody went to sleep I made another bowel of snow cream just for myself.

Cute little tidbits!

Brody does some of the cutest things lately. For starters the way he loves on his blanket and tucks in under his chin is so sweet. Whenever he is snuggling or getting ready for bed he gathers the silky part if his blanket up, tilts his head back and tucks it under his little chin.  Even better is when he snuggles with you with out his blanket. He then takes your hand and will place it under his neck. To an outsider it looks like we are choking him but he insist on your hand staying there.

Brody, like I'm sure most boys, has an obsession with balls. He loves them all and carries them around everywhere. The really cute part of his obsession with balls is how he reacts when we do to Target. He screams and gets so excited over the big red balls Target has outside the store. He often runs to th and just hugs on them.
We have quite the tech savy kid, which I think is just a given these days. He loves our phones, and the iPad. The funny part of all this is he thinks our tv should work like the iPad and if we are watching something that doesn't interest h he will go over to the tv screen and swipe it.

Just when we think Brody is super smart he does something that just makes is shake our heads and laugh. For instance Brody knows that to go down the stairs he must turn around and slide down on his belly. Usually he does pretty good at this but the other day I said "come on let's go downstairs."  We were about 5 feet when I said and Brody immediately turned around and started backwards crawling through our bedroom. This was completely the wrong way. It took him a little while to realize he was moving further and further away from the stairs.

First Haircut

We recently took Brody to get his first haircut. Dave was reluctant to cut his hair and was loved that he had a mullet. I on the other hand was ready to cut his mullet even if that meant loosing his baby curls.

We took him to a kid friendly haircut salon for the "event".  While we waited for his turn he got to go down the slide and play in their play set. When it was Brody's  turn we scooped him up and sat him in the airplane chair. He very aggressively protested at first, not because he was scared but because he wasn't done playing. He quickly calmed down when Mickey Mouse came on the TV and he was given a sucker. The nice lady that cut his hair did a great job and although I told her to keep it long an a little shaggy it was amazing how much it aged him. He no longer looked like a baby but was now a toddler. She gave us a little bag of his first hair clippings which Dave thought was really strange but I insisted that we would keep them.

I think the whole ordeal went pretty smooth and hopefully for Brody's next haircut he can go with Dad to his barber.

Brody and Mommy Week of FUN!!

This past week I had off from work and we had no plans to go anywhere.  I decided I would fill the week with fun things to do where we live.  It was by far one of the best vacation weeks I have ever had and I can't wait to have another staycation.

The previous weeks I worked 10 hour shifts and conveniently that gave me Friday off.  We spent that Friday with Grandma at our house.  Grandma even helped clean our house while Brody slept.  We would be headed up to NKY for the weekend so it felt great to get all of our chores done before we left.

On Saturday we had plans to go to the Newport aquarium with Emily, Grandma and all of Brody's cousins.  Unfortunately the entire tristate had the same idea so we aborted that plan and went to the Cincinnati Children's Museum.  Brody had such a fun time hanging out with his older cousins.  He just adores Hayden and Elliott and they love to show him all sorts of new things.  The Groh boys did so well being patient with Brody and were very protective of him when he was playing with them in the big boy areas.  Elliott even told me that Brody liked to play with them on the big kid stuff because he felt safe with his big boy cousins.
Here are some pictures of the kiddos playing at the museum:

Later that night we went out to eat with my Mom's parents.  I felt very unsure about how the dinner would go because Brody did not have much of a nap.  He lasted up until our food was served and then completely broke down.  Brody's Nanna took him and let him look out the window while I hurried and ate my food.  I am glad that we got to see everyone in one day but on the way home I couldn't help but think that I knew that that dinner wouldn't go well and it really wasn't fair for me to ask Brody to behave.  Next time I think I will just have to trust my instinct and do what is best for us.

Sunday we went to the park but basically just unpacked from being in Northern Kentucky and did some things around the house.  It was a great lazy day.

On Monday we went to visit Bryan after she dropped off her girls at school.  Brody played at her house with all their toys and then we went to Guessepis for lunch.  Bryan and I love pizza so it was a great lunch.  Bryan even forgot her wallet so I was finally able to pay for our meal.  ;)  After lunch we went back to her house where Brody loved wearing Jane's sunglasses.  I guess I will have to get him a pair this year.  Shortly after lunch we headed home.

On Tuesday we got up and went to the Georgetown Pavilion.  This was one of my favorite days!!! Brody absolutely loved playing in their pool.  The baby pool at the pavilion is full of warm water and slopes to a max depth of about 2 feet.  Luckily Sara had lent us this green frog floaty thing that allowed him to roam free in the water.  It wasn't 100% fool proof but it allowed him some freedom in the water.  He also loved jumping in off the side.  Every time he jumped off he kept his mouth open and would choke a little but he couldn't wait to stand back on the side and jump again.  I suspect we are going to have a great time at the pool this summer.
Quit taking my picture and let me swim!!!

After about 2.5 hours in the water we ate some lunch that I packed and then headed home.  Brody was so wore out he slept the entire ride home and 3 hours in his crib when we got home.  He even slept threw me using Dave's power tools to hang 21 picture frames on the wall along our staircase.

Wednesday we went to Carrolton, Ky to visit my Grandma, Nan.  Brody loved playing with the new cup toy she got him.  She even took us to Mcdonalds for lunch and Brody got a taste of his first chicken nuggets and fries.  He was very stubborn while eating them and did not want me to break them up into manageable bite size pieces he wanted to hold the nugget him self and bite it.  He did, well...... okay.  We went back to Nan's house after lunch and watched an episode of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse before we headed back to Lexington. Sadly I completely forgot to take any pictures.

Thursday was kinda cold and dreary, plus he was still pretty tired.  We spent Thursday doing laundry and more chores but managed to visit Maggie and baby Ty.  Ty is so unbelievably cute and so little.  He slept the whole time and Brody pretty much terrorized Maggie's house.  It is so hard to take a toddler to someone else home that is not baby proof.  I can't wait to go back to visit them with out my little rascal and hold that sweet little baby.  After Maggie's house I took Brody to the park for a little bit.  The good thing about going to the park when it is cold is that there is no one else there.  Brody had fun running around and kicking the dirt.  I even took this video of him cracking up as I kicked the dirt on his shoes.  It was this day that I realized that I would love to be as stay at home mom.  I just wish that was a possibility for us.

Friday was also a pretty low key day. We spent the day getting things in order to go to NKY for the weekend.  For dinner that night, we practically invited ourselves over to see Shannon, Chris, and baby Charlie.  After a full day with a toddler I just needed to get out of the house and talk to an adult for a bit.  We swung by Kroger and picked up dinner to take to their house.  Charlie is so much bigger and even cuter, if that is even possible.  I can't wait for him to be old enough to run around with Brody.

Saturday we got up early, showered, got dressed, ate breakfast and headed up to meet Anne and Theresa and their kids at Totter Otter Ville in Covington.  Brody loved playing with them and exploring this new place.  Unfortunately pretty early on he found a play stroller and wanted to push that around the whole time.  Brody has loved to push things around since he was mobile.  He used to crawl and push his toys all around the kitchen and dinning room for hours.  Now he has moved on to objects he can push around while upright.  He often refuses to ride in the cart at the grocery and insist on pushing the cart with me.  Needless to say at Totter Otter Ville I eventually hid that stroller so that he would do something else for awhile.  We ate pizza at  with Anne, Theresa and the kids and then left so each kid could go home and take a nap.  The weather was so nice and it was so warm when we left that I decided to skip Brody's nap and take him to play with his cousins in their backyard.  He had SO SO SO much fun jumping on the trampoline and walking all around their backyard. They played with sticks, played in the sand box (grrrr), and we even got out the bin of balls.  Brody loved tossing the basketball like the big kids.  When it was time to leave and I took their ball away from Brody and gave him ours he was not happy and smacked me in the face.  I have been struggling with him and his hitting when he gets mad all week.  So like we have done all week Brody went in time out right before we left.  Poor little guy breaks my heart when he sits in the corner crying but I just tell my self  what Anne and Theresa always say.... "we are investing in their future", by teaching him how to conduct himself.
Our attempt to get a picture of all the boys:

After time out we went back to my Parent's house (Nana and Clark).  Brody explored their back yard with Clark and once it got a little colder we came in and had dinner.  After dinner we played with toys, played hide and seek and even had a dance party in the living room.  It is so cute to watch Brody dance to music.  He bounces, claps his hands and sometimes tries to sing along.  It was a great evening.  Due to the ice/snow storm that was coming we decided it would be best if we headed back to Lexington and not to stay the night.  Clark gave Brody a bath and we put him in his pj's and headed back to Lex.  Luckily Brody slept most of the way home.

Dance Party

Sunday morning, I went in to Brody's room to get him and he immediately blew me a kiss.  We then went down stairs and snuggled on the couch for a long time. I am definitely going to miss mornings snuggling while watching cartoons when I have to go back to work tomorrow. We played with toys all morning and never got out of our pajamas.  Poor Brody must be worn out from our "week of fun" because he fell asleep eating his lunch.  He has never fallen asleep in his highchair before.

Well, now he is napping in his crib and I am writing this post.  I DO NOT want to go back to work tomorrow and I want to wake up with him every morning and make every week a "week of fun" but that isn't possible so I will make the best of the time I have left on this staycation.
