Brody's First Camping Trip

This past weekend Brody got to go on his first overnight camping trip with his Daddy, Uncle Brett, Cole and Uncle Nick.
The boys left early in the morning and all met up at a local rock climbing spot at the Gorge. Dave bought a book about Rock climbing at the Gorge and apparently this site was toddler friendly. Dave, Brett, and Nick all took turns climbing, and watching the boys play. Apparently at one point Brody and Cole were sitting playing in the dirt and Cole looked at Brody and said in his cute little voice, "Brody, it's a nice day," and Brody responded, "Ya Cole, nice day."  Dave said everyone around them busted out laughing and got a kick out of their little adult conversation.
From looking at the pictures the guys took it looks like the boys enjoyed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, ate Miguel's pizza while hanging out with local climbers, played in a creek near their camp site and successfully got covered in dirt and mud.
Sleeping in the tent I think I heard could use some improvement but honestly who thought sleeping two adults and two toddlers in a tent would go smoothly.  Brett claims that Dave and Cole were sound asleep yet Brody was keeping him awake by getting up close to his face and saying "Rooahhhrr!!!"  Apparently Brody kept this up until Brett finally had enough and shoved Brody over and told him to go to sleep.  Ultimately I believe they all had a pretty good time and this will be the first of many camping trips shared between the boys.

Easter 2015

This year we spent Easter at my aunts house in Carrolton. We all enjoyed watching Sydney and Brody play outside and interact with each other. Jett was passed around and met his extended family on my side.
Brody is very much in the toddler, "I do it myself," stage. He refused to let anyone help him take his helmet off, yet he couldn't figure it out himself so he just woreit all day long. He even wore it during the Easter egg hunt. The Egg hunt was a riot and we loved watching the kids hunt for the eggs in their own way. Brody ran around grabbing Eggs but eventually just gave them all to Sydney who was sitting in the grass eating all the goodies that were inside. Watching the two of them
Interact is so cute and will be even greater once Jett joins the mix.

1st few weeks as a Family of 4

Amazingly it feels like Jett has been here for much longer than just a few weeks. He fits right into our family seamlessly.
Brody still loves him and keeps tabs on where he is. He doesn't like when other people hold him and he doesn't like to go downstairs, or leave the house with out him.
Dave and I are settling to a new normal and new routine. Most mornings Dave gets ready for work while I'm up nursing Jett. He still isn't the greatest sleeper. Shortly after Dave leaves I am up with Brody and Jett. If I'm lucky and smart I have already gotten ready for the day in between Jett's nursing session and Brody's wake up time. We all head downstairs where a tornado goes through the house as I struggle to get both kids diapers changed, fed, and dressed. We have been getting out and keeping busy. Life is just easier when you leave the house with Brody. We have been to story time, and the park multiple times. I still haven't attempted the grocery with both kids. Yikes!!
We eventually return home and again I struggle to get Brody fed and down for a nap while continuing to nurse Jett, and if I'm lucky they both sleep at the same time for a short period while I clean the house, do laundry, etc.
Once Dave comes home he takes over care of Brody and helps me cook dinner. We play, eat, clean up and before you know it it's time for a Brody to go to bed. Brody still won't let Dave put him to bed so I often read to him, tuck him in and kiss him goodnight all while nursing Jett. Once Brody is down I hand Jett off to Dave and take a very quick shower, and prepare for bed and nighttime care of Jett. That's it. That is our day with two kids in a nutshell. It isn't glamorous and at times the moments feel impossible but we couldn't be happier.
Luckily we have had the support of our family and friends to help us settle in. My mom has helped with endless laundry, and has prepared many meals for us to freeze and use in a pinch. Sara has been coming over three days a week and always seams to know exactly what I need help with.
I'm already dreading returning to work. I do like my job but I would rather be home with my boys. I love being with them so much and it feels innately wrong to leave Jett when he is so little. He should be able to stay with me until he is older and more independent. I'm not going to dwell on this and enjoy every moment I have with them.  Soon Sara and I will leave and be spending two weeks in Florida. We are really looking forward to time in the sun and on the beach.
