Naked in the Library

So I'm just now getting around to writing about this but Brody had a pretty funny moment with Sara last week.
Sara, Brody, Jett and Papaw were at the library getting books for the week. Jett was in need of a diaper change so Sara asked her dad to watch Brody while she went to the bathroom to change Jett. Brody must have been listening and after Sara left to change Jett he decided he wanted to go to the bathroom too. He darted away from Papaw and while searching for the bathroom he ditched his flip flops, shorts and underwear. When Sara exited the bathroom she found a certain little red head running through the library naked from the waist down. Luckily when she found him he hadn't pooped but who knows if there was a little puddle of pee somewhere. They quickly got him dressed and high tailed it out of there. I only wish I could have been one of the other parents in the library watching this all unfold.

The Boys

These kids are so great and so hard all at the same time. Brody had been such a blast lately. His vocabulary has increased dramatically and he now talks to us in full sentences. He of course gets things a little mixed up and backwards at times but it's super cute. He also has been trying to push the boundaries quite a bit lately but is pretty easily redirected with counting to three or mentioning time out. He is crazy and adventurous,
Even going off the diving board at the pool. And no, he can't swim so Dave dives in to grab him. This hasn't stopped or detoured him one time. I have to tell myself all the time that this just is who Brody is and we not only have to watch him like a hawk but we have to let him learn his limits and just pray he stays safe.
Potty training is still happening. Brody is pretty much lee trained but pooping on the potty is hit or miss. For awhile he insisted that he stand to poop and would poop right there on the floor in front of the potty. Now, he usually poops in his "nighttime underwear" but if he wants candy he occasionally will sit in the potty and poop. It's a process, and we are trying to stay patient.

Jett, Shewwww buddy he is a bit challenging at time!  For started you don't nap during the day so by the evening when we get home from work you are cranky. You don't like to play on the floor by yourself much at all. You want to either be held and bounced or for someone to make silly faces at you so you laugh all day. That being said I do feel like you are getting a little better.    You eat a ton and sometimes it's hard but of Sara can get you to take your typical 7-9 oz at 2 then you are a much happier baby in the evening. Your laugh is ADORABLE and you have learned how to blow raspberries and soak your entire shirt with slobber. My weekend away was good for your fussiness was stressing me out but now that I've had a break I feel we have grown closer. You smile at me all the time and you always enjoy our snuggle time. I hope you get less needy at my workouts and you stop crying while in the car, but one step at a time right.
Love both you boys so much!!!

Go 2 Flo!

I am so very behind in writing about our Florida vacation it's ridiculous. We have been so busy with two kids and with Dave out of town I just have not found the time.

So without further adieu........  The week of the 4th of July we along with the Demmerle, Carr, Bauman, Conway, and Hancock families traveled  to our families condo in Ponte Vedra.  Our parents along with the Demmerle's and Bauman's have had this condo for about 14 years but this was the first time we had all traveled down together.
When we "finally" arrived (many airline delays) everyone was at the pool and having a great time. I on the other hand was coming down with a cold and we both were exhausted from traveling all day with a toddler and a 3 month old. Unfortunately the rest of the evening things continued to fall apart. I began to feel really sick, my mom had to make plans to fly home to care for my grandmother who fell a second time after her hip replacement and Dave, my Dad, and my brother prepared to leave for an all day fishing trip the next morning. With all this unfolding the next day was rough but we made it through. I managed to get both boys up and ready for the golf cart parade and the men made it off on their fishing trip. I felt awful that my Mom had to leave. I know she was looking forward to this trip and had spent hours planning for it. We definitely missed her but she needed to be home.
That afternoon Brody went to the beach with the rest of the gang while I stayed home and "rested" with the baby. Thankfully, Janice came to my rescue later that afternoon and watched both children while I ran to the grocery.  That night I spent in our condo with Jett while Dave and Brody watched fireworks. It wasn't the best 4th for me but that's just life I guess.
As the rest of the week went on things got better.  We spent the days either at the beach, the pool or hanging out in the condo while the kids napped.  Brody loved the water and showed no fear in the pool or the ocean.  He loved to be tossed in the air in the pool, which we had to tailor back because it made Nana nervous.  He was really into the boogie board in the ocean until Sean took him to far and on a big wave.  He marched all the way back in, never cried but that was it... he never went back in the ocean that week.  Jett got carted along where ever we went and he did well.  He ate a lot, and took a few naps on the beach or poolside but he really was just to young to enjoy any of it.
Looking back probably one of the funniest, sweetest, and down right disgusting moments of the trip happened one day after naptime.  That particular day I was downstairs in our condo feeding or playing with Jett while Brody napped.  I started to hear little feet upstairs and as I saw Brody start to come down the steps, I immediately asked in a scared tone, "why are you naked?"  Brody replied. "I helpa Mommy, I clean up my poop."  He was so proud and so excited to tell me this as I bolted up the stairs.  When I opened the door Brody had taken off his clothes, his nighttime underwear and there was poop all over the bed, and the carpeted floor.  I just lost it, I never yelled at him but just grabbed the wipes and started scrubbing the carpet.  Brody continued to hug me and and helped me scrub the floor while tears ran down my face.  I think he was confused but he kept reminding me that he "helpa Mommy."   Funny how some of the worst parts of a trip become the funniest and fondest memories.
As I somewhat proofread this post I am realizing that it doesn't sound like we had fun.  Crazy thing is that we did but it was also really hard.  Molly, Sean, Dave and I said next time we do this we are hiring help so that the adults can also relax a little.  It was so good to get everyone together but it was chaos most of the time.  I know one thing is for sure, all of us parents felt like we needed a vacation after our vacation.  I hope that we can continue getting together ever so many years and we all can watch our kids grow up, and make memories of these crazy vacations.  I would also like to extend my gratitude to all the real adults on our trip for funding and making this trip possible for us big kids and our little ones.  Looking back and remembering the trip I can't help but smile and laugh at all the fun, crazy, and chaotic moments we all shared.
