Currently Dave and I are driving home from our day and a half get a way from the kids. We started the day off yesterday by leaving early in the morning for Charlestown, In. I surprised Dave with tickets to play with tiger cubs. I had seen pictures/videos of a friend who went to this event and was super excited to try it for ourselves. The tiger cubs were 16 weeks old and very playful. We hung out in a room with about 40 other people while 4 tiger cubs jumped, pounced, and played with toys all around us. At one point one was laying on top of me playing tug a war with a flip flop. It was awesome but a little unnerving all at the same time. Unfortunately I also found out I am very allergic to tigers. Lol. We left, and headed to rite aid to get some Benadryl for me and went directly to our hotel in Louisville so I could shower and change clothes.
After showering Dave and I checked out a few breweries downtown Louisville. It was so nice to just get to sit and talk and to be on our own time schedule. We decided to do an early dinner at Doc Crows. I had the shrimp and grits which were unbelievable and Dave had a bbq plate that he thought was good but nothing special. I guess it was a mixture of one to many beers and total exhaustion because after dinner (around 6pm) we headed back to the hotel where I proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. Dave ended up carrying me to bed around 7 and he had to stay up by himself watching tv. When I finally got up it was 9:30am and I felt GREAT. I did feel bad that out night out together consisted of Dave sitting alone while I slept but I think I really needed the rest. Two kids is hard and I love him dearly but Jett is so difficult. He requires constant interaction and attention, and doesn't sleep at night. Hopefully this will improve soon, because it is exhausting.
Dave and I really would like to get away like this more often but it's hard to find childcare. Plus I feel bad asking someone to come keep the kids when I know they are signing up for a sleepless night. We do have a mini vacation planned in November for the USMC ball, which we are looking forward too.
