Busy weekend!

This past weekend was filled with Fun.  Peggy came down to babysit and Dave and I got to go out to dinner with Gary and Emily.  We always have fun when we are with them and are looking forward to our mini vacation with them in Baltimore this November for the USMC ball.
Sunday we all visited the festival at Shakertown.  Brody was excited to see all the animals and loved playing on their obstacle course, and eating special treats from Grandma

Jett's 6 month Photos

This weekend we had photos taken to celebrate Jett's 1/2 Birthday. I can't even believe it has been 6 months already. Time is flying by so much faster with him than it did with Brody.
We met at Camp Ernst Park to have them taken. Jett cooperated pretty well and we got a few really good photos that I believe capture his adorable smile. Brody ran around like a crazy kid but Leina was able to get some cute pictures of him too, which I will count those  as his 3 yr pictures. We tried to get one of them both but Brody wouldn't really cooperate and Jett eventually was over it.
Jett at six months is still having belly issues and isn't taking to solid foods well yet. We will try again in a few weeks. He is getting up on all fours but hasn't figured out how to crawl. He sits pretty well unassisted, and has said his first word with meaning....."mama!"  He usually says it when he sees me walk into a room or when he wants to nurse. It's super cute. He still doesn't sleep well consistently and wakes most mornings around 4:30-5. We are trying a few things in efforts to get him to sleep in a bit more but we haven't seen it work to well yet.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game!!

Last weekend was Brody's first MLB game.  I knew this was something my Dad had been looking forward to for along time.  Dave even kept Jett so we all could give Brody our full attention.  Brody got the full experience.  We started by walking across the singing bridge, and through Smale Park.  We walked through the gates, Brody received a Pete Rose bobble head and we found our seats.  He sampled all the traditional baseball game foods and told us his favorite was the peanuts.  He didn't quite care about the game but what 2 year old really would.  It was definitely nostalgic for us as we all remember going to the games when I was a little girl.

Little get away to Loisville

Currently Dave and I are driving home from our day and a half get a way from the kids. We started the day off yesterday by leaving early in the morning for Charlestown, In. I surprised Dave with tickets to play with tiger cubs. I had seen pictures/videos of a friend who went to this event and was super excited to try it for ourselves. The tiger cubs were 16 weeks old and very playful. We hung out in a room with about 40 other people while 4 tiger cubs jumped, pounced, and played with toys all around us. At one point one was laying on top of me playing tug a war with a flip flop. It was awesome but a little unnerving all at the same time. Unfortunately I also found out I am very allergic to tigers. Lol. We left, and headed to rite aid to get some Benadryl for me and went directly to our hotel in Louisville so I could shower and change clothes.
After showering Dave and I checked out a few breweries downtown Louisville. It was so nice to just get to sit and talk and to be on our own time schedule. We decided to do an early dinner at Doc Crows. I had the shrimp and grits which were unbelievable and Dave had a bbq plate that he thought was good but nothing special. I guess it was a mixture of one to many beers and total exhaustion because after dinner (around 6pm) we headed back to the hotel where I proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. Dave ended up carrying me to bed around 7 and he had to stay up by himself watching tv. When I finally got up it was 9:30am and I felt GREAT. I did feel bad that out night out together consisted of Dave sitting alone while I slept but I think I really needed the rest. Two kids is hard and I love him dearly but Jett is so difficult. He requires constant interaction and attention, and doesn't sleep at night. Hopefully this will improve soon, because it is exhausting.

Dave and I really would like to get away like this more often but it's hard to find childcare. Plus I feel bad asking someone to come keep the kids when I know they are signing up for a sleepless night.  We do have a mini vacation planned in November for the USMC ball, which we are looking forward too.
