4th Of July Shenanigans
This year we celebrated the 4th of July with Jon and the girls. Mamiko was recovering from surgery so she stayed home and rested but we sure did miss her. We started off the weekend celebrations with a watermelon smash. One of the first times we hung out with Jon, Mamiko and the girls they introduced us to a game where you are blindfolded, spun around and given a wooden stick to try to smash open a watermelon. This time the watermelon lasted a bit longer and it was fun to see everyone try to smash it open. We finished off the night with a delicious dinner, and an AMAZING firework show put on by Jon and Dave. Everyone decided to stay and all the kids slept downstairs in the living room together. Dave and Jon were the first ones up and they watched Jett wake up next. He stretched, bounced up and ran out the front door to pee off the porch. After a great breakfast we all went canoeing, and finished up with a great dinner at Proud Mary's. It was a great 4th celebration!

Canoeing on the Kentucky
One of the best things about our new home is the location. Fort Boonsborro is right down the road and there is a boat put in for the Kentucky River at the park. We recently purchased a few canoes and are able to put in at Fort Boonsboro, canoe down the Kentucky River for about 6 miles, and finish up at Proud Mary's Restaurant. There are cliff jumps, swimming holes, and rope swings along the way that we all enjoy. We even have a few friends who have joined us on the river for the fun.

Moving Day(s) and Our Move in Tree
FINALLY!!! The day has finally arrived that we are moving in! The house isn't finished yet by any means but it is mostly livable. David Spencer so graciously convinced the inspector to let us move in despite the house being finished because I had already scheduled two weeks off to move. Moving like always was so much worse than we could have imagined. We filled up so many box trucks, it was ridiculous. Dave and Peggy really took on most of the hard work, and I watched the boys because my back pain didn't allow me to be of much help. Moving was such a headache that it often overshadowed our joy of moving into our dream home but once it was all finished we were so happy and tired. The boys are stuck sleeping on the living room floor for a week or two until the upstairs railings are installed but they don't seem to mind. We are looking forward to organizing, and putting our house together piece by piece.
