Easter 2016

Brody had his first real egg hunt on Easter morning this year.  When he woke up, he headed down the stairs to find an Easter basket for both him and his brother.  The basket was filled with toys and candy, and after just a little explaining he started searching for the eggs that the Easter Bunny had hidden for him.  The first two eggs he found happened to be empty which I thought was odd since I distinctively remembered filling all of them.  When Brody found the first two he said, "awww this ones empty, " and "awww this one is empty too."  I quickly glanced at Dave and I could tell he had just remembered that after he had fallen asleep on the couch he woke in the middle of the night and ate some of the candy out of the eggs.  I wish I could have caught his look on camera because he looked super worried when he told me he didn't know how many eggs he found and stole the candy from.  At first I was super annoyed but the more I thought about it, it was pretty funny.
We had a great time visiting with Dave's side of the family this year for Easter.  We again, got lucky and had another unseasonably warm day for March.  Our first stop that day was at Grandma and Grandpa Kaiser's for brunch and to visit with the Kaiser gang.  The boys enjoyed playing with bubbles, rolling down the hill and playing in Grandma's flower pots =/.  Grandma Janet even put on a Easter egg hunt fot the kids.  Brody was so excited to hunt for eggs but when he ran outside and saw that there were no red eggs he hade a meltdown.  I guess that is typical 3 year old behavior. After a few hours of fun with the Kaisers we made our way to Dave's aunt Mimi's house.  The boys enjoyed another egg hunt and this time there were no tears.  The highlight of Mimi's house for the kiddos was definitely the dog house where the younger kids climbed in and out of for a good hour.  Dave and I were very fortunate that despite such a busy day the boys did great and we had only a few meltdowns to deal with.

The Kaiser Boys

We experienced an unseasonably warm day in March which had all of us playing outside at Brett and Andrea's house.  The boys had a great time ridding in the motorized truck and playing with all the other outside toys.  It felt great to be outside and not cooped up indoors.  Of course the boys all were filthy so the 4 oldest enjoyed a bath together, although from the looks of the water I'm not sure how clean they actually got.  YUCK!!!

Jett Turns One

I can't believe my baby is one!  Id like to say where did the time go but Dave and I both agree this year has been long.  Jett has definitely challenged us this past year and it often wasn't easy but we love him dearly.  Physically, we still have no idea who you look like.  I guess you just look like you, and let me tell you.... you are one really cute baby!  Your smile is adorable and when you get really happy you crinkle your nose and it melts my heart.  You have 7 teeth, 4 on the top and three (almost 4) on the bottom.  You are 30 inches tall and you weigh    lbs.  Your hair is light, but sometimes has a red or brown tint to it.  Your feet are small and you where a size 4 shoe.

Jett you love to be tickled, and your brother loves to play peekaboo with you because you smile and laugh at him.  You love any toy your brother has and I'm not sure you have a favorite of your own.  You do have a raccoon lovie that you love very much.  Your raccoon currently is sewn to your blanket so that you can't toss it out of your crib and cry.  At night when we lay you down you gather up your raccoon lovie smash it on your face and immediately begin to suck your thumb.  I have been so worried about loosing that lovie that you actually have an emergency replacement one on your dresser.

You still will not drink from any cup and it is so difficult to get you to drink anything.  Right now you get a morning and nighttime bottle of your special formula.  If we get you to drink 8 oz a day we are lucky.  I worry you are not taking enough fluids, but I'm not sure what else to try.  You have 9 different sippie cups and I have tried to give you everything possible to drink but you still only want your formula and it must be at coffee temperature.  As far as eating goes, you are picky, you love fruit, and some vegetables but they usually have to be smothered in fruit juice.  You LOVE carbs and cry if you see us eating bread and you don't have any.

Crying or wining seams to get you what you want so you don't say to many words.  You definitely say Mama, and I feel pretty certain you say Dada and Dee (Brody) with purpose.  Other than that you don't say any other words that I understand.  You clap, and point, and have waved bye bye a handful of times.  You crawel with lightning speed and cruise around the furniture quickly.  Walking is something you seam interested in but don't have the guts to walk more than as step or two.  Your sleeping has gotten better just recently and you usually sleep from 8-7 without waking to much, and you usually take one long nap a day.

Yesterday was your actual Birthday and Nana, Nee Nee and Papaw came to celebrate.  When your Dad and I got home from work we made pulled pork for dinner which you didn't eat much of which was odd because its usually something you love.  I think you are getting a new tooth so maybe that had something to do with your lack of interest in the meat.  Brody and Nana worked hard to make cupcakes for you and you sure did love eating one after we sung Happy Birthday.  After cupcakes we opened a few presents and you played with them all until bed.  I tried to rock you to sleep but you just wanted your bed and your raccoon.  We will celebrate more with the rest of the family in April, when we have your big party.  We decided to postpone your big party just a few weeks so we could be outside with everyone.  I don't think you will mind. ;)

Happy Birthday little buddy!  Mommy, Daddy and your big brother Brody love you so much and can't wait to see you grow up even more in this second year of your life.
