Ever since I stopped breastfeeding Jett has been constipated. We are constantly having to give him suppositories. I tried to get him off formula early and started on water and juice but he wont drink anything but his formula at coffee temperature. The kid is just so stubborn!!!! I mean we have 9 different sippie cups/straw cups, and what kid doesn't like juice or watered down juice!
After a suggestion from a friend we decided to change up his formula. Similac now makes a formula that has 10% more prebiotics than any other formula out there and according to some lactation consultants it is the next best thing to breastfeeding, To our surprise it has helped Jett in more ways than you can count. Not only does he have normal regular bowel movements but he is happy!!! He doesn't wine or cry near as much. The formula has changed his personality!! I wouldn't believe it myself if we were not living it. He lets you put him down, and he plays independently and isn't irritated with everything all the time. Of course the mom guilt has quickly set in and I feel awful that half the reason he has been so difficult was that his belly must have been bothering him. He has never had much gas, or been a spitter so besides being constipated we had no indication that his belly was hurting. This change has made our home life so much better and much happier. I hope we continue on this path and as far as I am concerned Jett can drink this formula till he leaves for college; I have no plans to wean him anytime soon.
