Kings Island!!!!

Ohhhh how I have been waiting for this moment for so long.  Ever since I realized that Brody had this dare devilish personality I have dreamed of how much fun our first trip to Kings Island would be.  My parents often talk about my first trip and how I said that the beastie, "scared me to death."  I have heard that story so many times I almost feel like I remember the moment.
Since I was off Dave took a day off work and we spent the day at Kings Island just the three of us.  We of course talked up roller coasters so much that the first thing Brody wanted to do was ride one.  Dave sat in front of us and got his first coaster ride on video and I just LOVE his face.  He is so super excited, which quickly turns to panic but then overall he loves it!  We even went back and rode the beastie 2 more times.  We rode almost every ride in kiddie land that day and even got to take him on the Viking ship.  The Viking ship is another one that scared him but as soon as we were finished he wanted to ride it again.  It was crazy watching him get on that ship for the second time.  You could see he was scared but he just had to do it once more to prove to himself he could.
The day was great!  It was everything I could have dreamt of!  I just cant wait to go back with him again.

Meanwhile, while we were having the time of our lives Nana and Clark were getting some alone time with Jett. They took him to the zoo where he loved all the water exhibits.  He noticed the animals and was much more observant than Brody ever was at that age.  It sounded like they all had a blast too.

Louisville Zoo With Friends

Its so hard to find people to hang out with when I am off work.  Almost all of my mommy friends work full time so when I'm off their kids are either at school or a daycare of some sort.  Luckily Missy works part time and we were able to take a trip to the Louisville Zoo with her little girl Madison.
The day started out kinda rough trying to get Madison's car seat appropriately installed in my van.  Despite our higher education Missy and I had to resort to youtube to help us secure her seat appropriately.  Once we were all buckled in we were off.  The only zoo I have ever spent a decent amount of time at is the Cinci zoo so I was sure how it would compare.  We were not able to see everything but for what we did see I was very pleased.  The kids had a great time and there was lots of interactive things they could climb on and play with.  I think their favorite thing might have been the playground despite the dozens of exotic animal exhibits.
Brody and Madison played pretty well together despite their being almost a two year age gap.  Brody held her hand and took it upon himself to make sure she kept up.  I'm not sure if he liked holding her little hand or if he liked being able to boss her around, either way it was cute.  Jett did pretty well and loved all the water exhibits the most.  He did unfortunately show his true colors on the ride home.

Jett is getting big!

13 months now and Jett is coming into his own.  He is officially walking everywhere and is able to get up without pulling up on things.  I am still trying to keep him in pants to spare his knees from the concrete but hopefully soon he will fall less and we can start putting him in shorts.  He says three words really well, "Mamma, Uhhohh, and Wow."  His Uhhohh is more like UhhhUhhhooo with his little stutter.  He is eating pretty well but is definitely going to be our picky eater.  Some days he drinks a little from a sippie cup but we are still working on that.  He LOVES his brother and finds almost everything he does hysterical.  Ohhh and does he have a temper!!! Now that he isn't such a baby anymore I have an easier time not catering to his every need right away.  He had definitely learned to manipulate us and we are starting to try and break that behavior.  Jett is also super observant, we think smarter than average, and his fine motor skills seam to be way above those of his peers.  It will be interesting if all of this holds true as he gets older.

Goodbye Baby Wheels!

Last week Brody learned to ride a two wheel bike.  Dave asked him why he still had his baby wheels on his bike.  Brody then looked at his bike and then his Dad in a super concerned look.  He told Dave, "take them off."  Then just like that he rode his bike.  Dave held the seat while he got on and gave him a little push and he rode down Ms T's driveway.  He rode down her driveway over and over again all night.  He screamed and yelled and cried all evening as he struggled to learn how to get going on his own but by the next day he had it mastered.  He and Sara now go on bike rides during the day with Jett in a bike trailer.  We are all super proud of our little dare devil and are not surprised that he is ridding his two wheel bike just shy of 3 1/2 years old.

Camping

The last two weekends Dave and I took off to our family farm to go camping with the boys.  We drove separate so Dave was able to spend sometime with old friends on the farm while I took the boys to visit, Nan.  We haven't been able to visit Nan like I would like to but with two rambunctious boys it is hard to make that trip.  It was great seeing her and I think the boys had a good time ransacking her house.
The first weekend of camping we hiked, shot guns, dug for arrow heads with Clark and Nana, roasted marshmallows and had a great time exploring around our campsite by the river.  Unfortunately though, despite are wonderful day we had one of the hardest nights with Jett ever.  He screamed almost the entire night.  He and we all barely slept.  The only way I could get him to sleep for just a bit was lying on my chest but if I moved an inch he would wake and scream for another hour or so.  I would have just put him in the car and drove home but my van was about half a mile away and I would have had to walk through the muddy fields in the dark to get there.  SO needless to say we were all stuck in the trailer for 10+ hours with a screaming baby.  It was terrible.
The second weekend was Jett's last chance.  We again had a great day hiking and exploring the old house, and the civil war Cemetery.  That night I got pretty nervous but to our surprise it went great.  Jett slept great and even slept longer than Brody.  Now that we know Jett can handle camping we can't wait to travel all around in our trailer this summer.
