We are so busy, life has been so crazy and I have not been able to write in this blog for a long time. Since going back to work we have been busy with parties, weddings, basketball, Halloween, purchasing of a farm, Thanksgiving, the firing and hiring of new nannies, and so much more. It is now almost Brody's Birthday and I really need to catch the blog up on what we have done. So here we go....
Going back to work has been bittersweet. I really do love my job but wish for these beginning years I could stay home with the boys. I feel like consistent care from Dave or I is what is best for them. This unfortunately is not in the cards for our family so back to work I have gone. I am now only working 4 days a week which has been such a blessing for all of us.
Brody and I got to go on a date sponsored by chick filet. We ate, danced, and even went out to get a special dessert after. Brody was so cute, and opened doors for me and even proudly told the people at the restaurant we were on a date.
Park Hills, the neighborhood I grew up in recently celebrated its 90th Birthday and a party was thrown to celebrate. The theme was the 1920's. It was so fun to be with most of the people I grew up with and celebrate together, now all as adults. Funny thing was at about 10pm I was ready to go home and go to bed but all the older adults were still going strong.
We have spent a few days at the RRG soaking up the sun before winter. Brody made it to the top of a wall and earned his own chalk bag. Jett enjoyed playing in the dirt, and Tristan has been happy as a lark and just enjoys being carted around in the action.
The biggest thing that has happened the last two months was the purchase of our farm. This really deservs its own post but Tristan is napping now, and the older boys are with Dave at the farm so this will have to do for times sake. Dave and I have been looking for some land to build our forever home on for a long time. A few weeks ago we finally found it and are so excited to eventually build our new home. The land is so perfect and beautiful that Peggy bought 6 acres next to ours, and my parents have bought the next 6 acres. The land is stunning and has amazing views from every direction. It is in Clark county where life seems to move a little slower. We have spent many of the last few weekends clearing out brush from the Irish Stone Walls and cant' wait to spend more time out there making the piece of property our own.
Halloween was fun this year. I am happy to report outside of the difficulty getting Jett into his costume we had no meltdowns this year. The boys had a blast running around the neighborhood with their friends and Dave and I had fun watching them be so excited. Jett was an airplane (a yardsale find from Sara), and Brody choose to be a ghost. I dressed up like Waldo from Where is Waldo, and Tristan sadly didn't have a costume but he was happy to suck his thumb and to be strolled around covered in Evelyn's purple blanket.
Brody is playing basketball and seems to enjoy it. I think we are finding that team sports fit him better. He seems to have to much anxiety when it comes to individual sports. In fact we worry about Brody and his anxiety a lot. He often seems so troubled, and so sensitive. We are working on trying to set limits with him but also trying to not get easily angered by his stubbornness. But, back to Basketball....... He is improving, and enjoys practicing dribbling the ball and shoots fairly well. He is getting to play with his neighbor friends Evelyn and Andrew which has been fun for him and their parents and us.
Thanksgiving was busy but fun this year. Emily and the kids had driven from Houston for the first time since they moved and it was so good to see them. We also got to see Nicole and Jon and their three kids.
Okay so now we are all caught up and I will try and keep things better updated moving forward.
