The last 3 weeks have been hard. Dave has been in Hawaii with the Marine Corps fulfilling his reservist requirements. I dreaded this period of time and didn't know how I would make it trying to care for two kids by myself. It hasn't been easy but we made it!!! Brody, and I were so excited for Dave to come home that we made him a Welcome Home poster and decided we would surprise him at the airport. This is no small feat with with two little ones around bedtime but we made it there in time. We strolled through the ticketing area waiting for his plane to land and when it did we hurried over to the area Dave would be coming down the stairs. Brody was jumping around waving his poster and saying, "Is that Daddy?, NOooo." Then all of the sudden, of course, in true toddler fashion Brody had to pee. We hurried in the bathroom, Brody successfully touched every germy surface and peed in the potty. I barely washed his hands in fear that we would miss Dave coming down the stairs. We hurried back to our post and anxiously waited. Once it had been 15 min or so and there had been no more people coming to the baggage claim area I called Dave and asked if his plane landed.... I knew it had but I didn't want to let him know we were there.. His reply was, "yes it did about 15 min ago. I am almost home I grabbed a cab." For lack of a better term I was PISSED. I couldn't believe he grabbed a cab, we always pick him up at the airport. I told him where we were and demanded that he turn around but he didn't want to do that. Brody melted onto the airport floor when I told him we had to leave. He just didn't understand that we had missed him. He was so excited to see his Daddy and he thought we were leaving him there. Looking back this is kinda funny now but I still shake my head and can't believe it all went down the way it did.
