For the second year in a row we have taken a post Christmas vacation trip to Florida. This year my parents and Peggy also got to come which made the trip extra special. Luckily our travel was pretty uneventful. Dave, Peggy, Clark, and Brody all dove down two days after Christmas and Nanna, Jett and I flew. We met in Florida exactly at the same time and all went to an early dinner. The weather was unusually warm, which allowed us many days on the beach, and in the pool. Brody loved running in and out of the surf and had a blast playing on the beach. Jett, although it was his second time experiencing beach life, actually got to play and crawl around in the sand. The boys loved all the extra attention they got from their grandparents and Dave and I enjoyed two nights off.
One night, we went to St. Augustine where we celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We spent the day walking around checking out local restaurants and bars, followed by watching two movies in our hotel room, and a nice dinner at a restaurant recommended by Dave's buddy Tyler. Honestly, I think my favorite part of our night away was just lying in bed watching movies with out the chance of an interruption. Our second night away, we spent with Dave's buddy Tyler and his wife Carrie. We both were super excited to spend time with them but unfortunately all we did was complain to them about how hard it was to have kids and how it changes your life. They don't have children yet, and to an outsider I know we sounded super bitter, and miserable. I'm not sure why we started down that road with them, and we did leave out all the wonderful things about being parents. I guess in some ways we needed to vent, and we were just trying to prepare them (as if that is even possible.) Even though I know you will never read this, "Sorry guys, we will make it up to you."
Overall the trip was a blast, and I hope that all the stars align again in the next years and we can continue heading to Florida for a warm get away after Christmas.
