This December we decided to sign Brody up for swim lessons. I knew he wouldn't exactly learn how to swim but my hope was that he would learn some water safety and he be able to burn off some energy. His first lesson went great but after that he became a bit more apprehensive. He has continued to love to play in the water and loves to go under, blow bubbles and kick his feet but no longer wants to leave the steps. He wants me to sit at the edge right next to him and does not want the teachers to touch him. After about 20 min of being in the pool he is finally ready to interact with the instructors but his lesson is over after 30 min so he isn't getting very much lesson time. One of the lifeguards, Jared has even given Brody the nickname of Mr No, because whenever they ask him if he wants to do something he says, "No."
We haven't decided if I will sign him up for the next session of not. He isn't really getting what I thought he would out of the lessons but it is nice for us to have some activity twice a week. Plus, I keep telling myself maybe learning how to interact with the lifeguards is enough of a lesson in itself.
