Bringing Jett Home

Bringing Jett home was something I had thought a lot about and so desperately wanted it to be a pleasant experience for Brody.  I worried a lot about how he would respond.  I didn't want him to be upset, or feel jealous.  I even had decided that it probably wouldn't go well and that I would be okay with that.

When we arrived home we brought in our bags and then told Brody that we had a surprise for him in the van. He was excited to run out and see what it was and from there things went better than I could have ever hoped. He loved the baby instantly and couldn't wait to hold him and point out all of his little parts. He even wanted to give him back the train that "Jett" had brought him. He later decided that he would keep the train but Jett could have the frog that he had purchased for him earlier that day.

Since bringing Jett home Brody has never once acted jealous or upset that the baby is here. In fact he is the complete opposite. He worried about where the baby is all the time and wants me to be holding him at all times.  He loves him and is protective over him already. Dave and I couldn't be more surprised but pleased with how he has welcomed Jett into our family.

Common phrases we here from Brody about Jett:
"There is a baby right there"
"Uhhohhh baby, it's okay"
"Baby out" - whenever he is in the swing and I am not holding him.
"Mommy's Baby" - whenever anyone else holds Jett.
"Bess you baby"- Jett sneezes a LOT,
He also plays this little game where I will repeatedly say "baby Jett", and Brody will say, "No baby" until I suddenly change it up and say "okay, baby" and then brody will say "no Jett" followed by lots of laughter.
